ATLANTIC BEACH GOLF CLUB

On calm days you can play your normal loft shot or on windy days you can use firm turf to play low running shots beneath the wind. Either way it is a challenge we are sure you will enjoy. Atlantic Beach Golf Links has been built with a serious commitment to the preservation of the indigenous fauna and flora. You are requested to respect this effort by helping to protect the native plants, birds and animals. The Club requests that you observe the post and rail fencing demarcating the environmentally sensitive areas.

CLOVELLY GOLF COURSE

Nestled in the pristine and tranquil Silvermine Valley close to Fish Hoek in Cape Town lies Clovelly Country Club. This relatively short layout, built among sand dunes, rewards accuracy off the tee and provides players with scenic views of the False Bay coastline. Known for its superb greens. With its lawn bowling greens, tennis courts and one of the finest golf courses in South Africa, Clovelly offers its members and visitors a memorable experience. Clovelly - like fine Cape wines - improves steadily with age, and its vintage and quality is well established throughout South Africa, and indeed, beyond our shores. This reputation is founded on the warmth of Clovelly's "family" character and its outstanding facilities. Clovelly ranks as one of the finest courses in the Cape Peninsula.

Clovelly was designed by Dr Charles Molteno Murray, one of the best known golf architects of his day and advocate Bobby Lewin was responsible for much of the magnificent landscaping. Together they produced one of Southern Africa's most picturesque and challenging courses. Famous for its rolling, computer-irrigated fairways and undulating holes, Clovelly complements its rich coastal environment. Natural sand dunes abut the course, which is blessed with water features and a wide variety of indigenous fauna - especially birdlife such as guinea fowl, pheasant, peacock and steppe buzzard - and flora, notably the variety of trees which line the fairways. Unlike some other local courses, there is no noise intrusion from roads or railways, and both course and club house enjoy privacy and security. Clovelly's championship-quality greens (bent grass/poa annua mix) are among the finest in South Africa.

ERINVALE GOLF COURSE

Erinvale Golf Club, nestled at the foothills of the Helderberg and Hottentot Holland mountains in Somerset West near Cape Town is one of South Africa’s great golfing challenges. Situated in the beautiful wine region, Erinvale’s breathtaking mountain and sea views are an integral part of this unforgettable golfing experience. Host of the 1996 World Cup of Golf in which thirty two participating nations competed. This is an estate course of two distinctly different nines. The front nine is on the flat, winding between the many houses in this part of the estate, while the back nine climbs up the lower slopes of the magnificent Helderberg mountain, with breathtaking views of the coastline from the top holes.

Designed by Gary Player Erinvale’s beautifully manicured par 72 championship course boasts some of the country’s most challenging and spectacular holes. Erinvale’s demanding front nine meanders through park-like terrain, whilst the back nine provide a contrasting challenge winding its way through the foothills of the mountains with panoramic views of False Bay. The greens at Erinvale are huge and well-shaped allowing for several different pin placements. A feature of the layout is that different coloured flags tell you the position of the pin, blue flags at the back, white in the middle and red at the front. Erinvale is also a real estate development where homes blend well into the landscape.

WESTLAKE GOLF COURSE

Against the amethyst slopes of the Silvermine mountains lies one of Cape Town's Premier Courses - Westlake. This easy to walk, 18 hole Par 72 golf course is characterised by the towering trees, which line many of its fairways. Westlake has a very interesting, yet user-friendly design and quite a few doglegs. If you manage to stay out of the trees, you will achieve a good score. From the first to the eighteenth hole, every step affords panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Established in 1932, Westlake Golf Club welcomes visitors with its special blend of old world charm and modern amenities in an atmosphere of conviviality and camaraderie. Whether you're a tourist enjoying a Cape holiday, or a local golfer, visit Westlake and see for yourself why Westlake is the Cape's most popular course.

A main characteristic of this course is the openness of its layout. The fairways are fairly wide and short and this, provided you stay out of trouble, makes for a potentially low scoring round. This user friendly design is a course that anyone can enjoy whatever their handicap. Accuracy off the tee will always be rewarded by a clear shot to the greens. The kikuyu fairways are boarded by shrubs and a variety of trees including the massive Port Jackson that towers over golfers and fairways alike. Watch out for the signature par-four 12th. The fairways are lined with pine trees with a dogleg left that almost jumps out at the player. The green is small and well guarded on the right by a tree side bunker.

PEARL VALLEY GOLF COURSE

South Africa's premier new sporting residential development situated among orchards and vineyards on the outskirts of two of the Cape's most famous wineland towns, Franschhoek and Paarl. Pearl Valley is the latest addition to the Jack Nicklaus’s repertoire of signature-designed courses worldwide. The Pearl Valley Golf Estate is surrounded by the Simonsberg and Drakenstein Mountains and bordered by vineyards with The Berg River water hazard running through it. Pearl Valley Signature Golf Estate and Spa is destined to become the premier residential golf estate in South Africa.

Designed on 212 hectares of tranquil surroundings for those who expect exclusivity and the finest quality lifestyle yet unmatched in this country. Nicklaus has stayed true to his design principles by working closely with nature and has provided a golf course that fits in with the environment. This fairly flat and largely uninterrupted terrain enabled Nicklaus the freedom to develop hole strategies making this a golf course the golfer has to think his/her way around. In its engineering and planning detail, the course is very rare. It is crossed by roads in only three places, and the drainage system allows play to continue just minutes after a severe cloudburst.

STRAND GOLF COURSE

Strand Golf Club is the only course separated from the sea by a narrow strip of land - along which Beach Road runs, situated close to the sandy beaches of False Bay. This golf course is situated close to the sandy beaches of the False Bay in a peaceful area surrounded by sea and mountains. Ducks and swans glide gracefully on the beautiful water-holes. The professionally designed course was developed on the site of the first course in the Hottentots-Holland Basin and was opened in 1994. It is no exaggeration to say this championship course is exposed to fresh and strong breezes sometimes even gales. In fact, in honour of the wind, an annual tournament called the 'Southeaster' is held here every April. Strand is also known for its water features. The golfer will encounter no less than 11 of them during a round. The course is not overly long, especially off the club tees.
